Live Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium

As many people watch the Super Bowl just for the humorous commercials during time outs and other breaks in the game, many more watch for the biggest football game of the year. The first Super Bowl was played on January 15, 1967 and was a contest between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. On Sunday, February 2, 2014, the forty eighth Super Bowl will be played in New York City and will feature the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. The Denver Broncos have played in six Super Bowls in the past and managed to win two of them in back to back years in 1998 and 1999. On the other hand, the Seattle Seahawks have only played in one Super Bowl in 2006 and lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This year, both teams are entering the Super Bowl with the record of fifteen wins and three losses. Peyton Manning, the quarterback for the Broncos, is looking to win his second Super Bowl with his first being with the Indianapolis Colts back in 2007. Manning will not be able to do this easily, though, as the Seahawks have the best defense in the league. This is mostly because of their defensive backs which are widely known as the “Legion of Boom” for their hard hitting. Led by cornerback Richard Sherman, who considers himself the best defensive back in the NFL, and free safety Earl Thomas, the “Legion of Boom” has given up the fewest number of passing yards this season and lead the league in interceptions with twenty eight. Manning will greatly need the help of running back Knowshon Moreno, who has had a nice one thousand yard season, as other teams have been able to run on the Seahawks. This will also help open up the passing game and will allow Manning to get the ball to Denver’s outstanding receiving corp consisting of Wes Welker, Eric Decker, and Demaryius Thomas.

Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Seahawks, is going to try and outplay the future hall of famer and win his first Super Bowl. Although it is only his second year in the league, Wilson is more than capable of handling this feat as he has proven numerous times that he is an elite quarterback and can lead his team to victory. Wilson will be going up against a Broncos defense that is lacking their most disruptive pass rusher, Von Miller, and best cover man, Chris Harris. Wilson will probably receive some help from Marshawn Lynch, who’s nickname, “Beast Mode”, explains the way that he runs the ball. If Marshawn Lynch is able to run the ball well, this will help set up some throws downfield from Wilson to wide receivers Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, and Jermaine Kearse.

With all this said, the difference makers will be the quarterbacks for both teams. Whichever quarterback plays better, I believe his team will win. I really expect Super Bowl XLVIII to be a great game and a nailbiter all the way to the final seconds. Watch Super Bowl 2014 Live
